- Description:
- The Field Spaniel is an English flushing spaniel developed for dense cover. It is less common than the Cocker or Springer. The AKC places it in the Sporting Group; the UKC classes it as a Gun Dog.
- Temperament:
- Field Spaniels are typically gentle, sensitive, and devoted to their people. They can be reserved with strangers. They need field work or long walks; a bored Field Spaniel becomes noisy or destructive.
- Training:
- Use quiet, consistent training. They do not take well to harsh methods.
- Care & Grooming:
- Brush the feathering weekly and keep the long ears clean and dry.
- Shedding:
- Moderate.
- Health:
- Field Spaniels may develop hip dysplasia, ear infections, and hypothyroidism. Keep them lean.
