- Description:
- The Hamilton Hound, or Hamiltonstovare, is a Swedish scenthound created by Count Adolf Hamilton from English Foxhound and German hound blood. It is used on hare and fox. The UKC classes it as a Scenthound.
- Temperament:
- These hounds are typically good-natured at home and determined on a scent. They have a carrying voice and will follow a trail out of an unfenced yard. They need more running than a short leash walk.
- Training:
- Train the recall early and use a long line. Scent will beat a weak recall.
- Care & Grooming:
- Wipe the short coat and clean the ears after work in cover.
- Shedding:
- Moderate.
- Health:
- The breed is generally hardy. Hip dysplasia and ear infections can occur; keep the dog lean.
