The Kuvasz is a giant, white livestock guardian with a slightly wavy double coat, a long head, and dropped ears. The body is powerful and well boned, built to live with a flock in all weather.

Description:: The Kuvasz is a Hungarian flock guardian, used on the plains with sheep and cattle. The white coat made the dog easy to see at night. The AKC places it in the Working Group; the UKC classes it as a Guardian Dog.
Temperament:: This is an independent, territorial guardian. It is typically devoted to its own household and reserved with strangers. It needs space and a role, not a busy suburban sidewalk.
Training:: Socialize early and keep the rules quiet and firm. The breed was selected to decide when a threat is real.
Care & Grooming:: Brush the double coat weekly, more often when the undercoat blows. White coats show dirt; they do not need constant bathing.
Shedding:: Seasonal and heavy.
Health:: Kuvaszok may develop hip dysplasia, bloat, and osteochondrosis. Grow puppies slowly and do not exercise hard after meals.
Lifespan:: 10–12 years
Litter Size:: 6–8 puppies
