The Puli is a medium herding dog covered in long, corded coat that can reach the ground. The head is hidden in the cords, the tail curls over the back, and the movement is quick and rolling.

Description:: The Puli is a Hungarian herding dog used on the plains with sheep. The cords protected the dog from weather and from nips. The AKC places it in the Herding Group; the UKC classes it as a Herding Dog.
Temperament:: Pulik are typically lively, watchful, and tied to their handler. They can be clownish at home and serious with strangers at the gate. They need a job.
Training:: They learn quickly and remember inconsistent rules. Start herding or obedience work early.
Care & Grooming:: The cords must be separated by hand as they form and kept clean and dry. This is not a wash-and-go coat.
Shedding:: Low once the coat is fully corded; loose hair stays in the cords.
Health:: Pulik may develop hip dysplasia and progressive retinal atrophy. Dry the coat thoroughly after bathing.
Lifespan:: 12–16 years
Litter Size:: 4–6 puppies
