The Tibetan Spaniel is a small, rectangular companion dog with a slightly short muzzle, a silky coat, and a plumed tail carried over the back. The ears are dropped and well feathered. It is not a true spaniel.

Description:: The Tibetan Spaniel is a companion and watchdog from Tibetan monasteries. It sat on walls and announced visitors. The AKC places it in the Non-Sporting Group; the UKC classes it as a Companion Dog.
Temperament:: Tibbies are typically alert, affectionate with their household, and reserved with strangers. They can be catlike and do not always enjoy rough play. They notice everything.
Training:: They learn household manners if training stays gentle. Keep sessions short.
Care & Grooming:: Brush the coat several times a week. Keep the feathering on the ears and feet tidy.
Shedding:: Moderate.
Health:: Tibetan Spaniels may develop progressive retinal atrophy and patellar luxation. Ask breeders about eye testing.
Lifespan:: 12–15 years
Litter Size:: 3–5 puppies
